Unlike every edition, the upcoming Indian Premier League has got quite a few issues. From scheduling to the general elections and the permissions of the boards to the certain players, the upcoming edition has got quite a few restrictions. Meanwhile, here comes the latest reports that Windies players would miss the playoff stages.
Ireland will host West Indies and Bangladesh for an ODI tri-series in the first half of May, with a double round-robin phase followed by a final. The tri-series will begin on May 5, with Ireland facing West Indies, and conclude with the final on May 17.
The series will be the perfect preparation for Bangladesh and Windies for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. However, few of the Windies players will not play, as the players will be involved with their respective franchises in the upcoming edition of IPL.
As perESPNcricinfo, it is understood that those players will be considered for selection only if their respective franchises fail to make the play-offs for the IPL, which are likely to begin from May 7.
Windies players have always played a huge role in their respective franchises over the years. Chris Gayle for Kings XI Punjab, Shimron Hetmyer for Royal Challengers while Narine and Russell for Kolkata Knight Riders will be in the action.
Apart from them, Nicholas Pooran, Evin Lewis, Oshane Thomas and Carlos Brathwaite will be in the action for their respective franchises. During the course, they would like to give the youngsters a chance ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019.
Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan is the only player from Bangladesh, who is participating in the Indian Premier League 2019. He will be playing for Sunririsers Hyderabad.
