The schedule for the league stage of Indian Premier League (IPL) is out. Defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will take on each other in a blockbuster opening clash of the season on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium. IPL 2020 will start only 11 days after India’s home ODI series against South Africa ends on March 18 in Kolkata.
On a very expected note, the BCCI has minimised the number of double headers. There are only six double-headers in the upcoming season and all of them are on Sunday. The league phase ends on May 17 – stretching 50 days this season as compared to 44 previously – with Royal Challengers Bangalore taking on Mumbai at home. The schedule of the knockouts is yet to be announced.

All Star game:
The much-anticipated All Star game will take place March 25. The game will be held in Mumbai, according to The Telegraph. Previously, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had already announced that the All Stars game — with two teams from the pool of registered IPL cricketers to raise money for charity — would be an annual affair going forward.
An official announcement on the date and venue of the All Star game is likely to be made on Sunday after the apex council meeting of the BCCI in New Delhi. During the meeting, the board will finalise and approve the domestic calendar for the year 2020-21.
Meanwhile, players from all the eight teams will feature in the star-studded game. According to reports, the two teams for the All Star match are likely to be formed by combining players from the four franchises. One team will have players from the franchise located in the north and east of India – Kings XI Punjab, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
The other team will have players from the franchises in the south and west – Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.
