IPL 2020: Boost For Chennai Super Kings As Star Finally Joins Team For Training

Things are slowly falling into place for Chennai Super Kings ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The three-time champions had suffered several setbacks within a week of landing in UAE. Few days after they landed in UAE, 13 of their members including two players – Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar – tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus.
As a result, Chennai Super Kings had to extend their mandatory six-day quarantine period. While all the other seven teams were busy training for IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings members were locked inside their rooms. To make the matters worse, two of their senior players – Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh – pulled out of the entire tournament citing personal reasons.
But things have improved for the franchise since then. No other member was tested positive and the team finally started training last Friday (September 4). And on Wednesday, they received yet another boost when their pacer Deepak Chahar finally joined the training.
The franchise announced the news on their official Twitter handle. They posted a picture of the bowler showing thumbs up from the training ground with the caption: “Deeback Chahar”

Having Deepak Chahar back in training will be a big boost for the side. The right-arm pacer has been an integral part of the team since joining them in 2018. His ability to bowl in powerplays as well as death overs makes him an asset in the shortest format of the game.
With the bowler now back in the training, he looks set to play in the first game of IPL 2020. Chennai Super Kings will take on last year’s winners Mumbai Indians in the tournament-opener on September 19. The MS Dhoni-led side will be looking to avenge their defeat in the last year’s final when they take on the four-time IPL champions.
