Kings XI Punjab (KXI) have started training for the IPL 2020 in the bio-secure environment. KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal were also seen practicing for the lucrative tournament. The IPL 2020 was shifted to UAE as the situation due to Covid-19 in India was not suitable for the tournament to commence.
The cricket board has enlisted various SOPs for the players to follow. KXIP opener Mayank Agarwal said that it is good to return to the field after the brief hiatus due to the pandemic situation. He also added that the IPL 2020 will be different as it will have new challenges to face but they will happily adapt to the new rules.
“It is obviously very, very good. We are all grateful that we get the chance to be outdoors and do what we love.”
“[It is a] very new [and] very different challenge but we are all trying to do our best and trying to adjust to the new rules and the new views, and quite happy to follow whatever rules are in place because [at] the end of the day, we want to play cricket and we want to play this tournament.”
Apart from Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle and KL Rahul will bolster the KXIP top order. Chris Gayle has an important part of the KXIP franchise and has notched up some key knocks with his opening partner KL Rahul. Gayle is one of the finest batsman in the shortest format of the game and can rake up runs with ease. KXIP captain KL Rahul said that he has great camaraderie with Gayle and he is great to have in the team.
