SunRisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has promised a very special gift for the fans if his team goes all the way and win the ongoing IPL 2020 in the UAE. SRH have hit the top form at the right time and are just two wins away from clinching their second IPL title.

The David Warner-led side thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator on Friday to set up a clash with Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier. The winner of the game will take defending champions Mumbai Indians in the much-anticipated final on November 10.

David Warner’s promise to the fans:

As SRH gear up for the qualifier against Delhi, David Warner opened up on his special connection with India. The Australia star, who led SRH to their first and so far only IPL title in 2016, said that India has become his second home and SRH his family at the IPL.

David Warner said doing well for the franchise means a lot to him, given the support he has had from the management and owners over the years. The batting star stated that winning the IPL 2020 trophy is the best gift SRH can give to their fans.

The SRH batting mainstay has also made a promise to the SRH fans, saying that he would dance to popular Telugu number ‘Butta Bomma’ if the team wins the title this year. Earlier this year, David Warner pleasantly surprised the fans by posting a video of himself dancing on the song on his TiKTok account.

“I promise all the Hyderabad fans that, if we do get across the line, I will do the Butta Bomma,” David Warner told Sports Today on Saturday.

He further spoke about his special connection with the IPL, India and the franchise where he is playing since 2014, a year after the team started its journey in the IPL. In 2015, he was appointed the captain and delivered the title the very next season.

“Personally, it will mean a lot. Obviously, I missed out on that season two years back and missed out on an opportunity to put runs on the board for the team and show my value as a cricket player that my standard is up there even after having a year off,” said David Warner.

“This team means a lot to me, it’s family. I call India my second home, this means a lot to myself. I have so much passion for this franchise.

“I have been here since the second year. I have had the backing and support of the franchise to get me in the auction. They gave me that belief and let me lead the side in 2016. Obviously, with Kane (Williamson) and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) taking over the reins last year when I was not there, this means a lot to all of us. This involves a lot of planning, a lot of hard work, a lot of preparation.

“It will mean a lot to me personally but it will mean a lot more to the franchise and more importantly to the fans who have stuck with us, day in and day out. We just keep putting a smile on people’s faces in these unprecedented times,” he added.
