IPL 2020: I Am Enjoying The Captaincy At Delhi Capitals- Shreyas Iyer

Delhi Capitals’ skipper, Shreyas Iyer has heaped praise on his team after their grand win over Rajasthan Royals in match 23 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). Delhi Capitals put on a royal show against Rajasthan Royals at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium on Friday as they beat the latter by 46 runs to go on top of the IPL 2020 points table.

Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals decided to field first in a stadium that had been there happy home ever since the inception of the tournament this year. Rajasthan Royals put on a decent show with the ball as they stopped Delhi Capitals on 184-8 in the first innings. However, the Delhi-based franchise bounced back in the second innings and displayed one of the finest performances of the season with the ball and on the field.

Delhi Capitals look a very deadly side with the kind of cricket they have been playing in the tournament this year and they have emerged as the most complete team.

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Shreyas Iyer said, “I’m really happy with the way we came out in the second innings. We thought it was an under par score but it was stopping on the wicket and the bowlers executed their plans really well.”

“We were also going to bowl first with the dew factor, but thankfully it went in our favour. I am enjoying captaincy because the players make it really easy, especially the bowlers. Even the way the support staff is managing the team meetings is commendable. I think the mixture in our team is really good and we have worked really hard on this,” Shreyas Iyer added.

Shreyas Iyer further stated, “The boys have shared their thoughts pre-tour and their strengths and weaknesses. I am happy with how we are progressing and hoping to maintain the momentum. We can’t take anything lightly and need to come with our plans, execute them well.”

It won’t be wrong to claim that Delhi Capitals have been stealing the show so far with their performance in IPL 2020. They have gone on to dominate almost all their opponents and a playoff berth looks quite certain for them from hereon. It will be interesting to see how they continue to maintain the standards that they have set in the latter stages of the tournament.
