Imran Tahir, Chennai Super King’s (CSK) senior leg-spinner is in all appreciation for the support the team, management, and the fans have shown towards him. Tahir has been warming the bench for the season and hasn’t played even a single game, despite being the holder of the purple cap last season.

Chennai has had a dreadful season as the three-time champions languish at the bottom of the table, with just three victories in ten games, and look almost certain to be out of the tournament barring any miracle. Skipper MS Dhoni following their loss against Rajasthan Royals indicated that there could be changes in the eleven and the players who are on the bench may get chances in their final four games.

CSK’s death specialist Dwayne Bravo got injured in the match versus Delhi Capitals — and is ruled out of the tournament. This might pave the way for Imran Tahir to be in the eleven for the first time this season.

You’ll perform one day, and not on another: Imran Tahir

Recently, Imran Tahir has termed CSK as the best team of all the teams he has played with. Tahir is a limited-overs specialist and plies his trade in different leagues all around the world, but he has enjoyed the most with CSK. He praises about how much respect everyone in CSK gives him — and the way the management looks after his family. He also talks about the supportive culture in the dressing room.

Talking with Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube show ‘Hello Dubaiahh’ Tahir said, “Best team, from my heart is Chennai. I’ve been all over the world. I’ve never seen so much respect given from a franchise. I’ve never seen someone look after my family so well, the fans in Chennai are unbelievably lovely.”

“When I play there it was a different atmosphere. And the main reason is I love their culture. They don’t talk about performances and are always supportive and that’s is what I like about it as in cricket — you’ll perform one day, and not on another.”

I have no clue: Imran Tahir

On being asked about when he could be seen in the playing eleven, Tahir said he doesn’t have any idea about it. He talks about how it was painful seeing his teammate Faf du Plessis carrying drinks for most of the last season.

Tahir acknowledges that there could only be four overseas players in the eleven, and since Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo offer multiple qualities as all-rounders, his exclusion was justified. However, he is hopeful of some game time.

“I have no clue. Earlier, Faf Du Plessis had to carry drinks the whole season. It was quite painful. He’s got a brilliant T20 average. I’m doing that this year. I actually got an idea of how he felt. I have been talking to him as well. And once four overseas players are settled in CSK then it’s hard for the fifth guy. I hope I get a game,” said Imran Tahir.
