The match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, on Sunday, was a match of comebacks. Not only Rahul Tewatia but Jofra Archer also sort of redeemed himself as the duo helped Royals bounce back and come from behind to chase down the biggest total in the history of the IPL.

The game looked out of Royals’ reach after Kings XI Punjab rode on Mayank Agarwal’s ton and KL Rahul’s fifty to post a massive 223 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs. However, it did not stop the Royals from going for the win right from the start.

Despite losing Jos Buttler early in the innings, Sanju Samson and Steve Smith fired on all cylinders to take the score past the 100-run mark in just the 9th over. After Smith’s departure, Samson took the charge as he scored 85 off just 42 balls before being dismissed in the 17th over.

At that stage, Royals needed 51 from 18 balls and it looked all over for them. However, Tewatia, who had managed just 17 off 23 balls till that moment, hit Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in the 18th over to turn the game on its head. The Royals eventually went on to win the game with three balls remaining.

Jofra Archer’s redemption:

Jofra Archer had a night to forget with the ball. The England World Cup-winner, who is one of the best white-ball pacers in the world, ended up conceding 46 runs in his four overs without picking up any wicket. And as soon as Jofra Archer completed his spell, Kings XI Punjab took a dig at his bowling figures.

Re-tweeting one of his old tweets which read ‘unexpected gifts’, the franchise wrote, “You don’t see something like this from someone like Jofra so often Wrapped present”.

But Kings XI Punjab should have perhaps waited for the game to end as they were left red faced and the Royals pacer made sure to give it back to them. The Barbados-born bowler redeemed himself by hitting two sixes in the 19th over that probably sealed the game for the Royals and didn’t waste any time in hitting back at Kings XI’s tweet.

“Well this aged well,” wrote Jofra Archer.
