But in the end, cricket is a team game and RCB as a team have always been inconsistent.

They have tried various players, combinations and changed coaching panel for quite a few times still the result was the same. Much like the previous editions, Royal Challengers Bangalore completely changed the complexion of the team and brought few world-class players and coaches to the unit.

The uncapped all-rounder from Haryana caught the attention of Royal Challengers Bangalore with his performances in the domestic cricket. The flamboyant cricketer can play sensible innings in the middle for his side and can bowl the deceptive left-arm spin. He was bought for INR 20 Lakhs.

2. Pavan Deshpande:

A left-handed batsman who also bowls occasional off-breaks. A slew of consistent scores during the 2017-18 edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali and the 50-overs version tournament, Vijay Hazare Trophy, helped him secure a contract with his home-based franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore. Like Ahmad, he also gets INR 20 Lakhs as his salary for the upcoming season.

3. Joshua Philippe:

He is one of the smartest buys of Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2020. Joshua Philippe got an exceptional record as a batsman and can also keep the wickets if required. RCB expected him to go big in the auction but they snatched him for only INR 20 Lakhs. Joshua Philippe is already a proven performer for Sydney Sixers in the T20 format.

4. Devdutt Padikkal:

The franchise was smart enough in retaining Devdutt Padikkal for IPL 2020. He is in red-hot form and likely to get the opportunity in the playing XI this year. He was the man for Karnataka in all the domestic tournaments they won in the last 12 months of time. He gets INR 20 Lakhs for his stint with RCB in IPL 2020.

The Sri Lanka all-rounder is expected to be the trump card of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming year. The coach Mike Hesson stated that they would have bought him at any cost but luckily they got him for only INR 50 Lakhs. In a mock auction, Mike Hesson picked Isuru Udana for 9 Crores.

6. Gurkeerat Mann Singh:

RCB retained the services of Gurkeerat Mann Singh for 50 Lakhs. He has always been a team player and would like to make the upcoming season count for him. He can bat in the middle-order and also offers off-spin for his skipper. He also got experience under his belt.

7. Pawan Negi:

Pawan Negi burst into recognition following a whopping Rs 8.5 crores deal with the Delhi Daredevils during the auctions ahead of the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL). Negi failed to live up to expectations and a below-par season led to the franchise letting him go ahead of the next auction in 2017.

He was then purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 1 crore. Negi finished with 16 wickets from 12 matches. They retained him for INR 1 Crore for IPL 2020.

8. Parthiv Patel:

Time remains stands still when it comes to Parthiv Patel. The baby faced wicket-keeper batsman has been part of Indian Premier League since its inception and he’s been part of most franchises – six to be precise.

Bangalore picked him up in the 2018 auctions and he played as a back up ‘keeper to Quinton de Kock, but the 2019 season gives him another chance, with de Kock’s departure, to prove his mettle. He took the chance with both hands, as he has been their consistent run-scorer. For 2020, RCB retained him for INR 1.7 Crores.

9. Moeen Ali:

Looking at his form in 2019, it was no surprise that Ali was one of the nine English players to be picked in IPL 2019. Royal Challengers bought him for INR 1.7 crore. He did not start immediately as the team preferred seam bowling all-rounders like Woakes and de Grandhomme.

But Ali did get a chance and in his fourth game, played a match-winning knock. That small glimpse was enough to convince the RCB management to retain him for this season.

10. Dale Steyn:

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – a side Steyn represented in both the inaugural as well as the previous addition – decided to bank on their former spearhead and struck gold at the fast bowler’s base price of Rs 2 crore. Steyn brings a lot of energy that Virat Kohli is looking for the team, especially in the bowling department.

11. Mohammed Siraj:

RCB beat four other franchises to land Siraj at Bangalore for INR 2.6 crore in 2018. He did not start the first few games but once picked he became Kohli’s go-to death bowler and ended the season with 11 scalps and thus ensured he was retained for the following edition.

12. Navdeep Saini:

The youngster was one of the success stories for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the previous edition. He bowled with a lot of gas and soon caught the eyeballs of his skipper. Navdeep Saini is now an international cricketer and was retained for INR 3 Crores by RCB.

13. Washington Sundar:

Sundar was surprising retention by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They didn’t use him in the previous edition but Kohli opted to persist with him for the upcoming season. He was retained for INR 3.2 Crores. It would be interesting to see whether he gets chances or not.

14. Kane Richardson:

Kane Richardson, the Australian fast bowler, who is known for his exploits with the ball in the T20 format was bought by the RCB franchise for a hefty amount of 4 crores INR in the IPL 2020 Auction. Richardson was included in the RCB squad, to add depth in the bowling department which the franchise has lacked in the last few years.

15. Umesh Yadav:

Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for INR 4.2 crore for the 2018 edition. He immediately repaid the faith put in by the management by claiming 20 wickets in his first season and was also retained for the next year. He once again gets retained for the same price.

RCB’s biggest and smartest buy was Australian limited-overs captain and seasoned IPL hand Aaron Finch. RCB bought Finch for 4.4 crores after an intense bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders. It will be interesting to see how he teams up with captain fantastic Virat Kohli and whether he can end RCB’s trophy drought.

Dube was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2019 Auction for INR 5 crores but he played just four games. He was retained this time as well. Shivam is a powerful young lad, he packs a punch and is more than capable of hitting the ball a country mile.

18. Yuzvendra Chahal:

Chahal has always been a match-winner for Royal Challengers Bangalore for the past four years. He started with 12 wickets in a season and soon became the leading wicket-taker for Bangalore franchise. He was retained for INR 6 Crores.

19. Chris Morris:

Morris is the third costliest player for Royal Challengers Bangalore this year after Captain and the vice-captain. The flamboyant all-rounder was bought for INR 10 Crores to play in the upcoming edition of IPL.

20. AB de Villiers:

AB de Villiers finished as the leading run-getter for his franchise for three seasons and was a constant name in the top-three run-scorers, ever since joining in 2011. Now retired from all international cricket, AB de Villiers could well be the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle as RCB get ready for a shot at the coveted title. He gets INR 11 Crores for IPL 2020.

21. Virat Kohli:

The skipper gets the highest salary among the 21 players. And, it’s not at all a surprise, as everyone knows what he is capable of doing for his side. He will be getting INR 17 Crores for his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020. Virat Kohli is eyeing to bring the cup home in the upcoming season. For the same, he already made quite a few changes by bringing in new coach, support staff and a new set of players as well.
