Playoff hopefuls Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns against Chennai Super Kings in the 49th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

With Chennai Super Kings not at their usual best in the ongoing season, Kolkata Knight Riders will be fancying their chances tonight. Chennai Super Kings are already out of the playoff race and are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with just 4 wins from the 12 matches.

The MS Dhoni-led side, however, could do some serious damage in its remaining two games. Royal Challengers Bangalore experienced it on Sunday when the three-time champions thrashed them by eight wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders will be desperate to avoid such an experience. The two-time IPL champions have already dropped to the fourth spot after losing their last game against Kings XI Punjab and another defeat could all but seal their hopes of making past the league stage.

With 6 wins and as many defeats, Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at the fifth spot in the points table. With the playoff race as close as it could get, the Eoin Morgan-led side just cannot afford another slip up.
