Star Sports, the broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL), recently raised a number of eyebrows by announcing that Mayanti Langer won’t be a part of the upcoming season. One of the most well-known faces of sports broadcasting in India, Mayanti Langer has become an integral part of the Indian cricket fraternity and is highly popular among the fans.

Unsurprisingly, the fans were left surprised when Star Sports confirmed the development. Well, Mayanti Langer finally revealed the reason behind her absence from IPL 2020 on Friday. She took to Twitter to announce that she was not part of the IPL 2020 list of anchors because of her new born.

She and Stuart Binny were blessed with their first child six weeks ago and thus the anchor has decided to skip the upcoming edition.

“Quite a few of you have reached out and many are speculating. For the past five years, my family at Star Sports has given me the incredible privilege of fronting their most high profile events. In fact, they supported me when I needed them the most. When I was pregnant with my son. They made several adjustments to ensure that I was comfortable hosting till I was 20 weeks/five months pregnant. I would have continued so had IPL 2020 gone on as scheduled. Stuart and I were blessed by the birth of our baby boy six weeks ago. Life has changed for the better,” she wrote on Twitter.

“So I’m going to love watching the IPL @StarSportsIndia all the best to the team @jatinsapru @suhailchandhok @cricketaakash @SanjanaGanesan @ProfDeano @scottbstyris @BrettLee_58 @Sanjog_G and the full gang!!” she added.

Meanwhile, Star Sports has already named Mayanti Langer’s replacement and also announced a full-fledged panel of presentaters. Suren Sundaram, Kira Narayanan, Suhail Chandhok, Nashpreet Kaur, Sanjana Ganesan, Jatin Sapru, Tanya Purohit, Anant Tyagi, Dheeraj Juneja and Neroli Meadows will be presenting the tournament.

As far as Stuart Binny is concerned, he is not a part of IPL 2020 either. The allrounder, who plied his trade for Rajasthan Royals last year, failed to find a team in the previous players’ auction.
