IPL 2020: Michael Vaughan Reckons Devdutt Padikkal Will Soon Play For India

Former England skipper, Michael Vaughan believes that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener, Devdutt Padikkal will get a chance to represent India by next year. He said it after Padikkal’s brilliant half-century against Mumbai Indians (MI).
The left-hander Padikkal has played all 12 games for RCB — and has been a phenomenon at the top of the order for RCB keeping an experienced player like Parthiv Patel on the bench. He has scored 417 runs – just seven behind skipper Virat Kohli – at an average of 34 with four half-centuries. Padikkal has had a fantastic past couple of years in the domestic season, as the youngster has been piling a mountain of runs for Karnataka.

Michael Vaughan is impressed by what he has seen so far from Padikkal. Vaughan talking on a chatshow with Cricbuzz said that he is sure that Padikkal will get an India call-up- whether it could be soon or by next year. He highly talked about Padikkal’s talent and temperament.
The 46-year-old said that Padikkal is adept in playing both the spinners and the pacers. He also joked about how unfortunate are rest of the countries and India have found another bright prospect for the future,
Talking on CricbuzzLive, Michael Vaughan said, “I am pretty sure, in the next few years, we will see plenty of him. Not just in the IPL, he will get international colors. Whether it’s very soon, or within the next year, I am sure. He’s just got the gift in the game. He can cope with the pressure. He has got a nice awareness of the game situation.
“He plays spin nicely which you would expect. He also plays the quicks with calmness and control. Unfortunately, for the rest of the world, India may have found another batsman,” Vaughan added.
