Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection of issuing online threats to MS Dhoni’s daughter on social media after Chennai Super Kings’ loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday.
The authorities picked the boy from Mundra’s Namna Kapaya village in the Kutch region of Gujarat. The juvenile is a student of 12th standard and confessed to have issued rape threats, as per Kutch police. According to reports, he will be handed to Ranchi police.
CSK players especially MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav were recently subjected to abuse and threats on social media after their latest losses in the ongoing IPL 2020. And to everyone’s utter surprise, MS Dhoni’s five-year old daughter Ziva was targeted by the trolls too.
The trolls gave threats of rape and physical violence to the little girl while venting their frustration over her father’s indifferent display on the field. The threats allegedly appeared on MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi’s Instagram accounts. The police have acted swiftly after the unfortunate incident.
Prior to arresting the boy, Ranchi police have also beefed up the security at MS Dhoni’s farmhouse in Ranchi. Police said that besides increasing patrolling, some personnel in civil clothes have also been deployed near his farmhouse to keep a close vigil on suspicious elements.
The former India skipper is currently in UAE for the tournament while his wife and daughter are in Ranchi.
CSK’s poor start to the season:
With just two wins from their opening seven games, the MS Dhoni-led side is currently languishing at the seventh spot in the points table. The three-time champions will have to stage a remarkable turnaround to keep their playoffs alive. CSK have made it to the playoffs in all the ten seasons they have played so far.
On Saturday, they suffered yet another crushing loss at the hands of RCB. Chasing 170, the Chennai-based outfit could only manage to score 132 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs.
