Kolkata Knight Riders have secured the services of Australia fast-bowler Pat Cummins for the upcoming season of IPL. Pat Cummins has been in stunning form this year and is the leading wicket-taker in Tests this year with 54 scalps to his name in just 11 games. He was expected to cause a bidding war and it did happen as Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore tried all they could to sign him up before Kolkata Knight Riders joined the race too.

The Knight Riders eventually bought Cummins for INR 15.5 crore after the bowler registered himself at the base price of INR 2 crore. Cummins also became the costliest overseas player of all time in auction, going past Ben Stokes’ price tag of INR 14.5 crore during the 2017 auction.

One of the best bowlers in the world right now, Cummins is yet to prove himself in the IPL and will be desperate to do so this season. He made his debut in the league in 2014 after being bought by Kolkata Knight Riders. He managed to play just one game that season and picked up one wicket. In 12 games for the Daredevils, the Australia star picked up 15 wickets.

In the 2018 IPL auction, he was bought by the Mumbai Indians for a price of 5.4 crores. Cummins was later ruled out of the entire tournament due to an injury.
