Kolkata Knight Riders seemed to steady themselves to a reasonably formidable total after a sedate first over. However, Mohammed Siraj pegged them back massively by striking twice in the second over. The seamer delivered another blow in his second over as the Knight Riders found themselves under pressure early on. Mohammed Siraj finished with jaw-dropping figures of 4-2-8-3, becoming the first bowler in IPL history to deliver two maidens in an innings.
Their bowlers regularly picked wickets as none of the batsmen looked settled in the crease. Skipper Eoin Morgan top-scored with 30 that helped his side drag to 84-8 in 20 overs. None of the Royal Challengers’ bowlers’ economy rate shot past 7.66, which was Navdeep Saini’s in three overs. In response, Lockie Ferguson picked the wicket of Aaron Finch while Devdutt Padikkal ran himself out; however, the total was hardly anything for the opposing batsmen. Virat Kohli and Gurkeerat Singh helped them go over the finish line.
