Delhi Capitals have suffered yet another injury blow with their wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant looking set to remain on the sidelines longer than expected earlier.
The India star had missed Delhi Capitals’ last clash against Mumbai Indians. Following the game, captain Shreyas Iyer had given an update on his injury, stating that the wicketkeeper might be out of action for around a week. At that time, it was believed that the left-handed batsman had pulled his hamstring.

“We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong,” Iyer had told the host broadcaster Star Sports after the five-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians.
But it looks like Rishabh Pant will be on the sideline for a longer period as he has suffered a Grade 1 hamstring tear. He is set to miss at least a couple of games for his side.
“He has a Grade 1 tear and it is not just a hamstring pull as was believed to be. He is under observation and we hope he gets fit quickly,” ANI quoted a Delhi Capitals source as saying.
Rishabh Pant had suffered the injury during Delhi Capitals’ win over Rajasthan Royals in Sharjah on October 9. He was seen limping when he completed the catch to dismiss Varun Aaron off Kagiso Rabada’s bowling. Before that, he was seen struggling while reaching the wickets for the throws from the deep as well.

Delhi Capitals will be hoping that the injury is not serious and their star man returns to action soon. The franchise has already suffered two big blows with Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra being ruled out of IPL 2020 due to injury. As far as the team’s performance in IPL 2020 is concerned, they are currently at the second spot with five wins from seven games.
