IPL 2020: Royal Challengers Bangalore Give IPL Lifeline To Dale Steyn

South Africa legend Dale Steyn will once again light up IPL while donning the Royal Challengers Bangalore jersey. The right-arm pacer looked set to go unsold after finding no buyer in the first two rounds. However, his first IPL team came to his rescue at the very end and bought him at his base price of INR 2 crore.
The last season of the IPL was an unfortunate one for Dale Steyn. After going unsold in the auction, he was signed up by his former team Royal Challengers Bangalore as an injury replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile and he hit the ground running. He picked up 4 wickets in two games before injury cut short his stint in India.
The same injury ruled him out of the World Cup too. A lot has changed since then. He announced his retirement from Test cricket in order to prolong his playing career. Styen, who has suffered a spate of injuries in recent years, retired from the longest format of the game as South Africa’s leading wicket-taker in Tests.
As far as his IPL career is concerned, Dale Steyn has played all the seasons but two since the start of the league in 2008. He only missed the 2017 and 2018 seasons. So far, the right-arm pacer has picked up 96 wickets in 92 games. He started his journey with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008 before moving to now-defunct Deccan Chargers in 2011 and then Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 2016, he was bought by Gujarat Lions. Dale Steyn boasts of an economy rate of 6.72 in his IPL career which is the seventh best in IPL history.
