Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings’ opening batsman, is ecstatic about batting with MS Dhoni and finishing the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chennai snapped their three-match losing streak when the men in yellow defeated RCB by eight wickets on Sunday.

Chennai delivered a complete performance, as first, their bowlers restricted RCB for 145. CSK showed intent in the chase as Faf du Plessis, and Ruturaj Gaikwad had an opening partnership of 46 runs in 5 overs. After the wicket of du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu and Gaikwad kept the run-rate in check, rotated the strike, and got that odd boundary regularly.

MS Dhoni came in after the fall of Rayudu’s wicket and safely guided his team to victory. In the process, Gaikwad notched his maiden IPL half-century and remained unbeaten on 65 from 51 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was adjudged the man of the match, has said that he has been dreaming about playing with skipper MS Dhoni since the camp started in Chennai. The 23-year-old said that he felt good about his personal milestone and is happy that he contributed to the victory. Gaikwad was part of the CSK squad last year as well but couldn’t get a game. This season, with CSK regulars not doing well he got his opportunity in the eleven.

Talking with Deepak Chahar in a video posted on iplt20.com, Ruturaj Gaikwad said, “I am feeling good but personal milestone doesn’t matter much until and unless you win for your team. I was part of the squad last year and this year also I didn’t get many chances this year also, so this means a lot.”

“I was dreaming from the day you know when the camp started in Chennai and I had a feeling I might get a game and was hoping to play with Mahi bhai and obviously make a partnership. It helps me a lot, coming it from Mahi Bhai that keeps focusing on the next games,” he added.

Chennai will take on Kolkata Knight Riders, who are in contention for a top-four spot in Dubai on Thursday. They currently sit at the last spot with eight points.
