The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Friday, announced the schedule for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL 2020 was originally scheduled to be played from March 29 to May 17 but the BCCI had to suspend the tournament indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Last month, the BCCI had confirmed that the thirteenth edition of the league will be played from September 19 to November 10. As per the new schedule, defending champions will take on last year’s runners-up Chennai Super Kings in the opening encounter of the season. The game will start at 7:30 pm (IST) in Abu Dhabi.
There were some doubts that CSK might not be ready to play the first game of the season after their training was delayed following13 of their members including 2 players testing positive for COVID-19. But things have been brought under control and with no new member testing positive, CSK will lock horns against Mumbai in a mouth-watering IPL-opener.

The final league match will take place on November 3 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. The schedule for the playoffs has not been announced yet.
The games have been allotted two stating slots. While the day games will start at 3:30 pm (IST), the night games will start at 7:30 pm. IPL has also stated that the schedule is subject to change.
Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab will open their campaign on the second day of the tournament i.e. September 20. On the following day, Sunrisers Hyderabad will lock horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore while Rajasthan Royals will take on CSK in their first game on September 22. On September 23, Kolkata Knight Riders will open their season when they take on Mumbai Indians.
