Mumbai Indians bowling coach, Shane Bond is happy as a clam on seeing the performance of his sides’ fast bowlers after they ran through the Chennai Super Kings’ batting order. Mumbai pacers wreaked havoc with the new ball as CSK lost five wickets inside six overs. Trent Boult took four wickets in the match and was duly awarded player of the match.

Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets, and Nathan Coulter-Nile snapped one wicket to derail the CSK batting. MI openers, Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock, chased down the target of 115 in a thumping fashion handing Chennai a 10-wicket loss.

I have never seen that scoreboard in a T20 game: Shane Bond

Shane Bond says he had never seen such a scorecard in a T20 game when CSK were four wickets down for just three runs. Bond also termed MI victory as a perfect performance. The bowling coach believes they bagged the game inside the first four overs.

He said they are lucky to have 2-world class fast bowlers operating in tandem. Not only Bumrah and Boult, but James Pattinson and Coulter-Nile have also been highly effective whenever they have been in the playing eleven.

In a video posted on Mumbai Indians’ Twitter, Shane Bond said, “Almost the perfect performance, you’d say. 4 for 5 off 3 overs. I have never seen that scoreboard in a T20 game. It wasn’t a combination of Trent and Bumrah wasn’t it, tonight.”

“The quality of bowling particularly in the first 4 overs was exceptional and we’d almost iced the game. After such a short period of time. So lucky to have 2 world-class opening bowlers in our team and to see them in full flow tonight was extremely exciting,” he added.

The former Kiwi pacer was also praised Ishan Kishan, who opened in place of an injured Rohit Sharma. Kishan smashed a 37-ball-68 to take MI comfortably over the line. Bond said the left-hander has been in sublime touch, and hitting the ball cleanly during the nets and to win inside 13 overs was a brilliant show.

“I thought he (Ishan) was exceptional. He’s been hitting the ball exceptionally cleanly in training for the last 3 weeks and has looked in great touch. He looked in sublime touch. That partnership (De Kock and Ishan) for us it was as good as it gets. To win, with 13 overs, none down, brilliant performance from those two,” Shane Bond said.
