Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar seems to have accused Jofra Archer and Tom Curran of deliberately not bowling bouncers at their England captain Eoin Morgan. The batting legend’s comments came while he was commentating during the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday.

Morgan played a key role in the win, scoring crucial 34 runs to take KKR to a challenging total of 174 for 6. He remained at the crease till the end to ensure the KKR bowlers get a good total to defend. The score eventually turned out to be more than enough as KKR restricted Royals to 137 for 9.

Curran scored a fighting fifty and remained unbeaten on 54 off 36 balls but it was not enough for his side to cross the finishing line. In fact, the Royals never really looked in contention to chase down the total as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

At one stage, they were reeling at 42 for 5 and even the 100-run mark was looking like a distant dream. But they eventually managed to put up a respectable total, thanks to Curran’s exploits with the bat.

Sunil Gavasakr’s surprising comment:

Sunil Gavaskar’s comments came in the 18th over when Curran bowled a full-toss at Morgan which was dispatched for a four by the England captain. Soon after the ball reached the boundary, the former cricketer-turned-commentator raised a number of eyebrows with his comments.

“This is a nice, juicy full-toss given by Tom Curran to his limited-overs captain. Here captain, hit it and he has accepted it,” said Sunil Gavaskar before accusing Archer of deliberately not bowling bouncers at his England captain.

“Jofra Archer also, when he bowled that previous over to Morgan, didn’t bowl a bouncer. Morgan had just been hit on the helmet, you would expect that your quickest bowler would bowl a bouncer. No, he didn’t bowl that bouncer,” said the former cricketer before his fellow commentator changed the topic.
