Veteran Indian batsman and commentator, Sunil Gavaskar has come up with a clarification for his comments on Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli last night. Gavaskar clarified while commentating on air during the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals game and took the opportunity to clarify his remarks on the Indian power couple that had surfaced a day ago.
Several fans took to Twitter to take shots at the batting legend, saying that his comments were ‘sexist’ and personal. And on Friday, Anushka also took to Twitter to slam Sunil Gavaskar for his ‘distasteful’ comments while also asking him to explain his words.

While commentating on air during the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals match, Aakash Chopra, who was also a part of yesterday’s conversation with Gavaskar, asked Sunil Gavaskar about the controversy that had arisen because of his comments.
To which Gavaskar said, “We both were commentating and I just said that there were some videos of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma training together during the lockdown. I simply said that Virat was practising with Anushka Sharma bowling at the other end.”

“I didn’t say anything derogatory about Anushka Sharma or even Virat Kohli. One should always cross-check the actual statements being made before coming out and reacting on a headline. I take this opportunity to tell Virat and Anushka that I didn’t intend to hurt anyone by my statements,” Sunil Gavaskar added.
