Kolkata Knight Riders star Sunil Narine has been reported for suspect bowling action after the match against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. The West Indies spinner played an important role in the match, helping KKR pull off a remarkable two-run win.

Sunil Narine conceded 28 runs and picked up two wickets in his four overs. The spinner dismissed the dangerous Nicholas Pooran and Mandeep Singh before defending 14 runs in the final over to power his side to a thrilling win. But soon after the game ended, he received the big setback regarding his bowling action.

According to the official release from the IPL, the on-field umpires reported his bowling action. Sunil Narine will continue to bowl further but will suspended from bowling in IPL 2020 if he is reported once more.

“The report was made by the on-field umpires according to the IPL’s Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy, Narine will be placed on the Warning List and is permitted to continue to bowl in the tournament,” the IPL release stated.

Not the first time:

This is not the first time Sunil Narine is facing such a situation. He has had troubles with his bowling action since 2014. In 2014, he was reported twice in the now-defunct Champions League tournament and missed the 2015 World Cup to work on his action.

He was reported during the 2015 IPL as well but was received just a warning from the BCCI. However, he was suspended from bowling in November that year after being reported during an ODI in Sri Lanka. The right-arm spinner had to remodel his bowling action to get the green light for bowling again. In March 2018, however, he was again reported during the Pakistan Super League.
