SunRisers Hyderabad have suffered yet another big injury blow in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with their ace allrounder Vijay Shankar now out of the remainder of the competition. The allrounder had suffered a hamstring injury during the game against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.

He had suffered the injury while bowling his second over of the game. After bowling the fifth ball of the over, he was seen clutching his left hamstring. He soon received treatment from the physio but it didn’t help his cause as he had to walk off the field. David Warner bowled the remaining one ball of his over.

During the same clash, Wriddhiman Saha had suffered a groin injury too. After the end of the game, Warner had confirmed both the injuries, saying:

“Unfortunately, he’s (Saha) got a little groin niggle but hopefully, it isn’t too bad. Shankar has a hamstring issue as well.”

But while Saha has recovered from the injury, Vijay Shankar has not. According to Sports Tak, the allrounder will not take part in the remainder of IPL 2020. Earlier in the season too, Vijay Shankar had to be sidelined with a minor back injury.

Missing the allrounder will be a big blow for SRH who are still in the playoffs race. The allrounder was looking in good form with the bat in recent times. Last week, he had scored a match-winning fifty against Rajasthan Royals. His performance with the ball was also promising.

Vijay Shankar has bowed out of the competition after scoring 97 runs in seven games. He also picked up four wickets while having an economy-rate of just 6.22. The allrounder has become the third SRH player to be ruled out of IPL 2020. Before him, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mitchell Marsh were ruled out of the tournament too.
