Chennai Super Kings endured an IPL season to forget in 2020 as they could not qualify for the playoffs for the first time in history. Chennai Super Kings, who have lifted the title three times under the leadership of MS Dhoni, remained inconsistent for the most part. Even though the yellow army began chalking out victories, it was not enough to carry them into the playoffs as they finished with 12 points in the competition.
Their captain MS Dhoni and Shane Watson struggled to get runs in the tournament that compromised the team’s run-scoring in the lower and top-order respectively. The absence of experienced players like Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh did not help matters either. On the bright side, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s emergence was a massive plus along with Narayanan Jagadeesan and R Sai Kishore – both of who flourished in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, being the players to watch out for.
