Chennai Super Kings had a shift of fortunes for the worse in IPL 2020 as it became the first edition when they did not reach the playoffs. Chennai Super Kings’ ageing captain MS Dhoni had his struggles with the bat while seasoned all-rounder Shane Watson also went through a poor run of form for the most part. But the franchise’s owner has backed MS Dhoni to continue as captain and bounce back.
The upcoming auction and season would be a crucial one for the yellow army. The Super Kings have seven slots to fill in the bidding function and their prime focus might be on roping in an explosive opening batsman to cover for Shane Watson, who retired from all forms of cricket. The 2021 edition will mark Suresh Raina’s return while the stars to watch out for will be Ruturaj Gaikwad, Narayanan Jagadeesan, and R Sai Kishore.
