It Means A Lot- Shubman Gill After Gujarat Titans Win The IPL 2022
Shubman Gill opened the innings for GT and stayed there till the end. This came after Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult dismissed Wriddhiman Saha for 5 and Matthew Wade for 8 runs respectively.
But then Gill and captain Hardik Pandya (34) added 63 runs for the third wicket before Yuzvendra Chahal got him in the 14th over. But the target of 130 proved to be too difficult for RR to defend as David Miller made 32* in 19 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.
Shubman Gill hit a six to win the final for the GT team and became the first batter to hit a six to win the summit clash in IPL history.
This is what he had to say as GT celebrated the victory:
“It means a lot. After winning the under-19 World Cup, winning the IPL is just as big. It is my fourth year. I wanted to be there till the end and that was the talk with the coaches. Glad I took them over the line. Our bowlers bowled really well to restrict them to 130. We wanted to keep them under 150 but fortunately it was much lesser.”
GT became the second team after Rajasthan Royals to win the IPL trophy in their debut season.
