Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Devdutt Padikkal said that watching Jos Buttler bat from the other end is just incredible, as the Englishman scored his third century in this ongoing IPL 2022 as RR defeated DC in the 34th match of the IPL 2022.
Jos Buttler slammed 116 in 65 balls with 9 sixes and as many fours to help Rajasthan Royals put up a daunting total of 222/2 in 20 overs, the highest team score in the IPL 2022. His partner Devdutt Padikkal hit 54 in 35 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes and the duo added 155 runs for the opening wicket. Sanju Samson also contributed 46* in 19 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
In reply, Rishabh Pant top-scored with 44, while Prithvi Shaw made 37. In the end, Rovman Powell made 36 in 15 balls, including three consecutive sixes off the first three balls of the last over as DC needed 36 runs to win. However, DC fell short by 15 runs, while Prasidh Krishna took 3/22 and R Ashwin took 2 wickets as well.
Krishna’s 19th over came when DC needed 36 off 12 deliveries. It was a wicket maiden, which included the wicket of the all-rounder Lalit Yadav for 37 off 24, who was looking dangerous, with an assist from the wicketkeeper Sanju Samson.
He Is Playing The Best Cricket Anyone Has In IPL: Devdutt Padikkal On Jos Buttler
Rajasthan Royals opener Devdutt Padikkal on Friday said it was incredible watching Jos Buttler bat and go after the bowlers from the first ball itself. Buttler has 491 runs in 7 matches in IPL 2022 with 3 centuries and 3 fifties and averages 81.83 with strike rate of 161.51.
“It was just incredible watching him bat. He is playing the best Cricket anyone has in IPL. To see him enjoy himself and go after the bowling from ball one is great to watch,” said Padikkal in a post-match discussion with pacer Prasidh Krishna.
Padikkal further said that after getting good starts throughout, he had finally converted into a good score.
Asked about the plan during the 19th over of Delhi Capital’s innings, Krishna said, “I was clear. 36 were needed off 12. I was going to execute the yorkers.”
Royals are at the top of the points tally with 10 points and will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 26.
