Sanju Samson got his first break with Rajasthan Royals after he impressed Rahul Dravid during a net session.

After spending time with Kolkata Knight Riders, he finally made his IPL debut for Royals.

In the first season in 2013, Samson scored 206 runs in 11 innings and with 192 runs in six games of Champions League, Samson became the talk of the town.

With his innings of 60 in the final, he showed maturity and was later retained by the franchise before IPL 2014.

He produced 339 runs in IPL 2014 and soon got a call-up to the national side for England tour.

He did not get an opportunity there and finally made his debut in a T20I against Zimbabwe.

Still 23, Sanju disappeared from the scene way back in 2015 but the highly rated player can be in reckoning again with a good show in IPL.

In IPL 2018, he will again be playing for Rajasthan Royals, a franchise which helped him build himself.

The franchise owners spent a huge amount of Rs 8 Crore on him to get him back and Samson is excited to play in the blue jersey again.

However, Samson will be missing Rahul Dravid, who is not associated with the team now,

“We’ll miss Rahul sir for sure. But we have had the best of him and looking forward to Shane Warne. I am very excited that he is a part of Royals. This will be my first experience with Warne. I have heard a lot about him, like how he is a straight-minded person and a positive thinker. How he contributes to the team and boosts youngsters’ confidence. I am waiting for his arrival,” Samson told TOI.

Looking at how a good show in IPL helps players get a place in the Indian team, the upcoming season is an opportunity for Samson to do well and earn a spot in the Indian team, again.

He was close to making it to the Indian team last year but lost the race to other youngsters, who also did well.

The fact that Samson is surely a prospect for future cannot be denied and this IPL can be a life-changing for him.

Though, it will take time for him to earn a national call-up, just like Shreyas Iyer, who waited before fulfilling his dream.
