It is certainly the most competitive T20 franchise cricket tournament in world cricket. And, every season cricket fanatics have had witnessed some new milestones being set and some old records being broken.

The world has witnessed some remarkable innings during the 12 years of the cash-rich league.

Today, we take a look at some of the most explosive innings of the IPL history in terms of strike-rate.

The greatness and domination of AB De Villiers can be witnessed from the fact that he is again in the list with another great performance.

This time it was Mumbai Indians (MI) who witnessed his carnage in the Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2015.

AB played some scintillating shots all around the ground and scored 41 runs off just 11 balls. He scored five fours and three sixes during his time at the crease. He played with a whopping strike rate of 372.72.

The 13th season of IPL will commence from 29th March this year with Chennai and Mumbai battling it out at the Wankhede.

Balachandra Akhil – 385.71

A relatively unknown name in world cricket, Balachandra Akhil played one of the most scintillating knocks of the IPL at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in the opening season of the tournament.

Akhil scored 27 runs off seven deliveries against the Deccan Chargers Hyderabad smashing two fours and three sixes in his innings. He played with a strike-rate of 385.71 during the innings.

The superman of cricket. AB de Villiers played one of the most scintillating innings of his IPL career when he took to the field in a game against Pune Warriors India in the year 2013.

During his stay at the crease, de Villiers smashed 31 runs off eight balls with a strike rate of 387.50. His innings included three fours and three sixes as he destroyed the Pune bowling attack.

De Villiers is one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket at the moment and this year’s IPL could see him smashing some of the giant world records.

Albie Morkel – 400

Morris is followed on the list by another South African superstar, Albie Morkel. Albie Morkel played in the IPL for different franchises for eight years.

Known for his hard-hitting abilities, Albie played one of the most explosive innings of IPL history in 2012 representing the three-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

He smashed 28 runs off just seven deliveries. His innings included two fours and three sixes. He had a jaw-dropping strike rate of 400 in his innings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Chris Morris – 422.22.

Chris Morris holds the record for the most explosive innings in the history of the competition. Morris now represents Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Morris played this innings against Rising Pune Supergiants in the year 2017 while playing for Delhi Capitals. During the innings, he smashed 38 runs off just nine balls with a whopping strike rate of 422.22.

Morris played this innings at the MCA Stadium in Pune and smashed four 4s and three sixes during his stay on the crease.
