IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab could be suspended from IPL should the BCCI take a call on taking action against the franchise.

It is to be noted that Ness Wadia, the co-owner of the franchise, was sentenced in Japan yesterday.

He was at a holiday in the country but was charged on drug charges.

The sentence of one of the owners of the franchise could also have an impact on the team’s IPL future.

As per rules of IPL, no team official can be involved in any act which brings the game into disrepute.

Hence, this can have an impact on KXIP’s chances to keep playing in the league.

If an action is taken against KXIP, then it will be the third time when such an act will be happening.

In past, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings were also suspended for two years each.

Rajasthan Royals were suspended due to one of the co-owners involving in betting.

Chennai Super Kings were also suspended for two years due to one of the members of the franchise indulging in a wrong act.

It remains to be seen if BCCI takes any action against the franchise or not.

Although, the board is expected to take action but it could take some time as well.

Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab are currently sitting at the seventh spot in the points table with five wins in seven matches.

They are still in the race to qualify for the next round of the tournament but have a tough road ahead.

Should they win their next two matches, KXIP will have a strong chance to make it to the next round.

The R Ashwin-led side, unlike last year, has performed in bits and pieces.

They have never been consistent in this season so far and the lack of a finisher has cost this team.

Last year, the team had a great start but faltered in the second stage of the tournament.

Kings XI Punjab next play Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3 in Mohali.

After that, Ashwin and co will host on defending champions Chennai Super Kings in their last league stage match.

For KXIP, both their remaining games are must-win.
