IPL 2018: Aakash Chopra Impressed with Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Sensational Turnaround

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra lauded Dhoni for a sensational turnaround and has termed his batting in this tournament so far as sensational.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have played some exceptional brand of cricket this year and that’s why they are standing pretty at the top of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) points table with six victories from eight encounters.

More or less everyone has contributed to the team’s cause. However, the form of Ambati Rayudu and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been the biggest positives for CSK.

Not only they have scored runs at a terrific strike rate, but has also maintained the consistency which has allowed Chennai to chase down stiff totals despite having only five frontline batsmen in their playing XI on most occasions.

Dhoni is currently having the best ever IPL season and has rolled back the years.

Interestingly, former Indian opener Aakash is currently working as a commentator and an expert for broadcasting giant Star Sports. Eventually, it is the official broadcaster of all matches in Hindi.

Aakash is of the opinion that CSK has a very strong batting which has worked in their favour.

Shane Watson, Dhoni, Rayudu and Suresh Raina have been in a stupendous form which has helped CSK maintain their top two positions in the IPL points table.

Aakash admitted that Dhoni was struggling a year ago. Hence he was very impressed with the way he has turned it around in the T20 format.

“I am pleasantly surprised. If you have asked me this question about a year ago, I would have said, things are not looking great. He is taking too much time, maybe the T20 format is no longer his primary format because what he could do at 25, he is not able to do at 35. But then, the way he has turned it around, the second wind seems to be stronger than the first and he has rewound the clock. It is absolutely sensational,” Aakash said during the launch of ‘Aakash Chopra Official App.

CSK have the strongest batting unit in the tournament –

Aakash Chopra also added that CSK has the strongest batting line-up in the tournament.

Despite playing only five frontline batsmen they have the ability to score 200 almost every time.

“Chennai Super Kings is one side who are playing with only five batsmen and they are still good enough to score 200 runs, nine out of 10 times. So they (CSK), currently, are the best batting unit in the IPL,” Aakash concluded.
