The second leg of the fixture between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also belonged to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men, who thrashed the visitors by six wickets, chasing a moderate target of 128 in Pune.

With this loss, RCB makes it difficult for themselves to go into the next stage of the tournament while the CSK’s juggernaut continues to roll on in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL)

Let us look at the five game-changing moments.

Parthiv Patel’s comeback knock:

One of the heavy scorers of the IPL history, Parthiv Patel had to miss out on a substantial portion of the ongoing season to accommodate the likes of Quinton de Kock in the playing XI.

The experienced southpaw held one end up with his flamboyant 53 off 42 deliveries, with five glorious boundaries and a couple of sixes.

RCB was in the game until Patel was there at the crease with wickets tumbling at the other end.

Ravindra Jadeja’s spell:

After dismal outing against Kolkata Knight Riders which costs Super Kings the match, Ravindra Jadeja making amends went on to deliver the goods for his captain with the ball.

Jadeja claimed as many as three wickets in his spell of four overs, bowled at a rapid pace; conceding just 18 runs. He first dismissed captain Virat Kohli with a peach of a delivery and then dismissed in-form Mandeep Singh.

The dangerous looking Patel was also dismissed by a determined Jadeja. His spell initiated the RCB spiral down in the middle.

RCB stumped:

Royal Challengers could only post a target of 128 in front of Super Kings, largely due to the fault of their own. RCB’s batting efforts had four dismissals affected by runout or getting stumped.

AB de Villiers and Murugan Ashwin were foxed by the guile and deception of Harbhajan Singh. Instead of providing support to Tim Southee going great guns with the bat, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj were found well short of the crease.

In fact, the crucial dismissal of Patel, who was caught and bowled by Jadeja, may also be termed as a soft dismissal.

Overall, half of the RCB side handed their wickets away to the Chennai bowlers who obliged to the gift provided to them.

Tim Southee’s cameo:

Tim Southee walked in with his team precariously placed by 87 for seven. From there on, the Kiwi played a blinder of a knock to give his team some sort of momentum and total to fight.

Also renowned for his big hitting prowesses, Southee registered an unbeaten knock of 36 off just 26 balls, consisting three boundaries and a maximum.

Parthiv’s couple of missed chances:

Royal Challengers bowlers gave Chennai Super Kings a run for their money with wickets at regular intervals, in defence of 128.

However, when they reflect back at the loss, Parthiv’s two missed chances may be discussed at length.

Suresh Raina, new at the crease, cut the ball towards M Ashwin at third-man, who in no time returned the ball only to find Raina was short of a crease, in an attempt of the extra run.

However, Parthiv failed to grasp the ball and hit the stumps, and gave a life to Raina, who scored 25 runs later.

Colin de Grandhomme lured Bravo in with a wide leg-cutter, which caught the edge of the Trinidadian. Parthiv, keeping up to Bravo, grassed the ball even after two attempts.
