Virender Sehwag selected Kings XI Punjab squad has looked one of the most flamboyant teams in the tournament. The Mohali-based outfit is topping Indian Premier League’s (IPL) table this season along with resurrected Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who are enjoying the number one spot, as of now owing to the Net Run Rate.

Former Indian captain and Cricket Association Bengal (CAB) President Sourav Ganguly singled out the efforts of his teammate Virender Sehwag.

Moreover, Ganguly is happy with the captain Ravichandran Ashwin and Chris Gayle how both have had fared so far.

Gayle, in just three matches, is in the race for the Orange Cap, after being released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the season eleven.

Also, the Jamaican was unsold during the mega-auction on the very first day in Bengaluru, before Sehwag bought him on a day two – to everyone’s surprise.

However, the move paid rich dividends to Sehwag and company as it turned out to be the theme of the tournament so far, ‘Olden is Golden’.

The likes of Shane Watson, Imran Tahir, and Chris Gayle, on the wrong side of their 30s, are proving their mettle with the experience in the format.

Ashwin, in his new role of captaincy, is enjoying tremendous success. Moreover, KXIP as a unit is on a roll at the moment with three successive victories in the tournament.

Also, this season of IPL has been chase oriented. But, Ashwin is not afraid to defy the trend, as his team is successful even after batting first, in order to defend their scores.
