IPL Star Players Who Never Earned National Team Call-Up

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has unearthed plenty of talents over the year. Some have went on to represent their national team while the others faded away time. However, IPL continues to act as a catalyst to players’ international dream. Interestingly, there have been some players who have been onsong in the lucrative tournament but failed to get a call-up for the national team.

Let us have a look at some IPL stars who should have played for the national team.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the consistent talents in the IPL. He started his career in the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before moving to Mumbai Indians (MI). He performed equally well for both the sides. He has batted in the middle and top-order with his ability to play quick-fire cameos coming in handy for the side. However, he has still not earned a call-up from the national team.

Yadav, 29, has played 85 matches in the IPL and scored 1548 runs at an average of 28.14. He has a brilliant strike rate of over 131 and has seven half-centuries under his belt.

Shreyas Gopal

Shreyas Gopal rose to fame in the IPL last season after picking up 20 wickets for Rajasthan Royals. He has played in the lucrative tournament since 2014 but the last edition turned out to be the best for the spinner as he awaits a national team call-up.

Shreyas Gopal has picked up 38 wickets in the tournament and bowled at an average of 19.38. He has an economy rate of a little over 7 and has a four-wicket haul in the tournament.

Nitish Rana

Nitish Rana is another bright talent in the IPL who has contributed to the fore at the top-order. Rana is known for his ability to score quickly for the side and get them off to a good start. He has also been used as a part-time bowler.

Rana has played 46 matches in the IPL and scored 1085 runs at an average of 29.32. His strike rate of over 134 also comes in handy for his side KKR. He had previously plied his trade for Mumbai Indians.

Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel has not featured in the IPL in past two seasons but had shown early sign of brilliance with his bowling. He featured in 43 matches in the lucrative tournament, picking up as many wickets, at an average of 19.44.

Rajat Bhatia

Rajat Bhatia could weave his magic with the ball and bat as well. He featured for teams like Raajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevis and erstwhile Rising Punesupergiants in the tournament.

Bhatia scored 342 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 120. As a bowler, he picked up 71 wickets at an average of 28.45 from 95 matches.
