Indian Premier League (IPL) has changed the way cricket can be monetised. The league had provided financial stability to the players and showed the world a new way to get a global reach.

Ever since its inception in 2008, IPL had many surprise packages and superstars. But not many have proved to be consistent over the seasons.

There have been only a handful who delivered almost every season in IPL and ranked amongst the best run-getters in the tournament.

Here we look at the top five batters who managed to clinch the 4000 run-mark and are among the leading run scorers in IPL history.

#5. Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa has been one of the best players in IPL history since its inception. Having played an active role in India’s T20 2007 World Cup campaign, Uthappa was a promising talent for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the initial years.

But, he went on to play for Pune Warriors India before switching to Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2014.

He had played an active role in their title campaign and had been a mainstay at the franchise ever since. Robin Uthappa managed an impressive 4037 runs in IPL so far.

One of the best batters in the IPL history, Gautam Gambhir was the most prolific left-hander batsman in the league over the past decade.

The Delhite managed to make Kolkata his home for seven years and delivered them two titles.

After his initial days for Delhi Daredevils, Gambhir returned to the franchise this season.

However, his poor run as a skipper meant he stepped aside from the team and sacrificed captaincy for a greater cause. He has so far managed to score 4217 runs in IPL.

#3. Rohit Sharma

The Mumbaikar won four IPL titles in his career and led Mumbai to three IPL titles since taking over as the captain only in five years time.

He was also sensational with the bat scoring a very good 4438 runs in his IPL career. It is hard to see him slowing down anytime soon.
