Ishan Porel delivered phenomenal performance for Bengal in the previous season for Ranji trophy. Bengal were close to lift the prestigious title but were beaten by Saurashtra in the final clash. However, Ishan Porel was quite happy with his performance and the IPL 2020 will only add to it.
Ishan Porel was picked up by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for his base price. He had to wait for two years after his run at the U-19 World Cup, to get a call up for the IPL. Porel is excited on his opportunity and said that he is looking forward to grow and learn as a fast bowler. Porel will be sharing the dressing room with senior India fast bowler Mohammed Shami and Sheldon Cottrell.
“I am looking forward to it as an opportunity to learn and grow as a fast bowler,’’ Ishan Porel told Gulf News.
‘It’s unfortunate that the Indian cricketers were deprived of any action over nearly last five months, but then we are all starting in the same plane. I am the kind of bowler who gains form as I bowl more and that’s what I am looking to do,’’ he added.
Earlier Shami, the most improved fast bowler in the Indian cricket team, has admitted to losing rhythm during the lockdown enforced due to COVID-19. Mohammed Shami has been yielding benefits from his training at his ancestral home in Sahaspur. He had begun high-intensity training from last month.
The Indian fast bowling unit spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, which consists of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav has emerged formidable. Shami among others have improved a lot in the recent past. At present, the Indian pace attack, is arguably the finest in the world.
