India’s pace spearhead Ishant Sharma has spilt beans on how former Indian captain MS Dhoni helped him scalp wickets during his career-best performance so far. The famous Lord’s spell which Ishant was talking about is the one that gave him his career-best figures.
During India’s tour of England 2014, Ishant Sharma produced one of the most memorable spells in the history of Indian fast bowling by taking a seven-wicket haul against England which helped India to win the test at Lord’ s after 28 years. It was a spell of hostile fast-bowling.

England were given the target of 319 to win the test, but their batting line-up collapsed against lethal fast bowling by Indian speedster Ishant Sharma. On Day Five alone, he snared five wickets; all of them came off short deliveries.
Ishant Sharma Reveals The Advice MS Dhoni Gave Him Before Lord’s Spell
“At the end of the fourth day I had already dismissed Cook and Bell, Mahi bhai told us that from here no one will think of a draw. Obviously there was pressure on us on the last day. Moeen Ali and Root were playing bell so Mahi bhai asked me to start bowling short as nothing was happening. He told me to bowl short till we take the new ball. Just before lunch Moeen Ali was dismissed,” Ishant said on Gaurav Kapur’s Youtube show Isolation Premier League.

“While we were going in for lunch Mahi bhai told me that he will make me bowl in short spells and that I had to bowl short. I told him that now he should just let me bowl till the end of the match,” the fast bowler added.
