Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar began steadily. Tamim struck a couple of boundaries for his 15 while Sarkar also struck a boundary. However, both fell in quick succession as Bangladesh were reduced to 35/2. While Shardul Thakur bagged the wicket of Tamim Iqbal, Jaydev Unadkat prized out Soumya Sarkar.

It was Litton Das who scored a fluent 34 but it took him 30 deliveries. Just when he was looking good for a partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim, the wicket of the latter again stemmed the run flow. Debutant Vijay Shankar bagged the wicket of Mahmudullah for just a solitary run. The batsmen were not able to execute the big shots on a consistent basis which didn’t allow them to post a big total in the end.

Sabbir Rahman scored 30 of 26 deliveries to propel Bangladesh to a score of 139/8 in 20 overs. Chasing a relatively modest target of 140 runs, the Indian openers began pretty briskly. Rohit struck 3 exquisite boundaries before falling to Mustafizur Rahman for 17. Rishabh Pant was pushed up the order. However, after smashing a boundary he chopped on a short of length delivery from Rubel Hossain straight on to his stumps.

Shikhar Dhawan yet again played a superb knock and made sure India reached the target quite comfortably in the end. Suresh Raina was also at his fluent best and struck some crisp shots to get going. It was a terrific partnership between them which eventually helped India cruise to a victory. The southpaw was eventually dismissed on 28 of 27 deliveries.

Shikhar Dhawan also fell in quick succession but by then India was within touching distance of the target. It was Manish Pandey who remained unbeaten on 27 of 19 deliveries. The Men in Blue eventually romped home by 6 wickets.

Here is what Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said at the post-match presentation

I think it was a great performance, something that was expected from us. Right from the start to the end, it was clinical and a complete team effort. We looked into what went wrong in the game against Sri Lanka and we thought hitting the length was the option for us. We wanted their batsmen to take on the longer boundaries. Bowlers executed plans very well. We kept it simple and got the basics right, which was missing in the first game.
