India secured a convincing win beating South Africa by seven wickets to go 1-0 up in the series in Mohali. Meanwhile, the game witnessed two of the best catches – (one from Virat Kohli and the other from David Miller) of the year. Shikhar Dhawan, who got out to a piece of brilliance from Miller called it an unbelievable catch.

At the halfway stage, India needed 150 runs to win set by South Africa banking on a half-century from skipper Quinton de Kock and debutant Temba Bavuma. The host got off to a fast start – smashing 30 in the first three overs.

South Africa got the first impetus when Andile Phehlukwayo trapped Rohit in front which brought Virat Kohli in the middle. Kohli looked at his best from the onset middling the ball and kept the scoring board on along Shikhar Dhawan.

The duo added 61 runs for the second wicket before an outstanding moment of athletism ended Dhawan’s innings. David Miller out of nowhere pounced on the ball with his right hand right at the edge of the boundary to leave everyone shellshocked.

Dhawan and Virat Kohli also looked stunned as they shared a look at each other. Shikhar Dhawan was also seen smiling in shock as he appreciated the effort from Miller.

“It was an unbelievable catch and Virat was thinking that as well. I was smiling and appreciated his effort. It was hit hard, it wasn’t lofted, it was hit flat and I took it in my stride,” Dhawan said at the post-match presentation.

With 1-0 up and only one match to go, India will look to try some other combinations in the third and the final T20I against South Africa on September 22 (Sunday).
