It Will Be India's Loss Whenever MS Dhoni Retires, Says Kapil Dev

Former India World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev believes there will be a big void once MS Dhoni decides to draw curtains on his international career. Dhoni at 38 isn’t getting any younger and his absence from the international circuit has raised quite a few eyebrows. The wicket-keeper batsman last featured for India in the 2019 World Cup semi-finals.
India came agonizingly close to beating New Zealand but with Dhoni’s run-out in the end moments, India’s hopes were punctured. Incidentally, the former India captain hit a fifty in that game. Kapil feels India will be at a loss once it part ways with Dhoni.
“He has served the country so well, for so many years. One day, he has to retire. It will be sooner rather than later. He has to go at some time. He is not playing matches. So, I don’t know when he is going to come out and say he has had enough. It will be our loss whenever he retires,” the 61-year-old said.
MS Dhoni was left out of the central contract list
Dhoni didn’t find a mention in the annual Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) central contracts list in January for the time window extending from October 2019 to September 2020. Meanwhile, Kapil, who was in Chennai to promote the upcoming movie ’83’, said that times have changed and that cricket is no longer just a batsman’s game.
