With Team India bowlers failing to get rid of David Warner cheaply in the first two ODIs, KL Rahul has joked that ‘it will be nice if he gets injured for a long time’. KL Rahul’s comment came after Australia thrashed India by 66 runs in the second ODI to seal the three-match series with a match remaining.

Having scored 69 in the first ODI, David Warner looked in good form in the second ODI too. The opener was batting on 83 before a run-out denied him a well-deserved century. He, however, failed to stay on the field for the full game because of a groin injury.

David Warner limped off in the fourth over of the second innings having tumbled in the field to save a single from the bat of India opener Shikhar Dhawan. He grimaced and clutched his groin as he got to his feet while the team’s physio sprinted onto the field. He eventually walked off the field.

And as India’s bowlers struggle against David Warner continued, KL Rahul made a light-hearted comment on the southpaw’s injury.

“It will be nice if he gets injured for a long time. I would not wish that for any player but he is their main batsman, it will be good for our team,” KL Rahul said.

Talking about the second ODI, India were once again outplayed by the hosts in yet another high-scoring encounter. For the second match in a row, Steve Smith scored  a 62-ball ton while Aaron Finch, David Warner, Manus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell scored fifties to power Australia to 389 for 4. In reply, India ended their innings on 338 for 9.
