It's Great That Sourav Ganguly Has Become BCCI's President; He Hasn't Spoken To Me About MS Dhoni's Future: Virat Kohli

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has given his first reaction on Sourav Ganguly becoming BCCI’s President and as per him, it’s great that Ganguly will take over the position. Kohli also said that he hasn’t had a word with Ganguly over MS Dhoni’s future.

“I congratulated him [Sourav Ganguly]. It’s great that he has become BCCI president. He will get in touch with me when he has to. I will go meet him when he tells me to. He has not spoken to me about that (MS Dhoni’s future). I am sure,” Kohli said after the South Africa Test series.

Ganguly, who is set to take over as BCCI’s President tomorrow. might meet Kohli on October 24, the day when India will name the squad for the Bangladesh series. They will hold discussions on number of matters, with Dhoni’s future being the priority.

The former Indian skipper has been on a break since World Cup 2019 and there is no clarity whether he will continue to play international cricket.

He is set to miss Bangladesh T20Is but it is not confirmed whether he will be back for the West Indies series. A clear picture is expected to come out when Ganguly holds a meeting with Kohli. He will also meet the MSK Prasad-led selection panel on the same day.

A talk with Dhoni is also on the cards and the Indian cricket fans will come to know about Dhoni’s future soon.

Ganguly, BCCI’s President-elect, will hold the position till September 2020 and will have to later go on a cooling-off period.

Talking of Kohli, under him India whitewashed South Africa 3-0 in the Test series which concluded today. India did not give an inch of a chance to the visitors and it was complete dominance from the hosts.

Rohit Sharma, who scored 529 runs in three Tests, was adjudged Player of the Series award for his brilliant performance.

India take on Bangladesh next. The series kicks off on November 3 with first T20I in Delhi. The next two T20Is will be played on November 7 and 10. The two Tests will be played in Indore and Kolkata from November 14 and 22, respectively.

Despite the Bangladesh players going on a strike, both the boards are confident that the series will be played as scheduled.
