Luck continues to play a cruel game with Sanju Samson. The youngster had the world at his feet when he was picked in the India squad as a 19-year old way back in 2014 for the tough tour of England. In the following year, he made his T20I debut on the tour of Zimbabwe. However, soon after the Zimbabwe tour, he was dropped and things just did not pan out in expected manner.

Loss of form as well as poor discipline record saw Sanju Samson falling down in pecking order before he finally regained his composure and started doing well with the bat. He made it to the India A squad after impressing in the 2018 IPL but was soon dropped from the team when he failed the mandatory fitness test.

More than a year later, he finally received a call-up from Team India for the home T20I series against Bangladesh. However, he did not play a single game and was surprisingly dropped for the series against West Indies. But an injury to Shikhar Dhawan led to another recall although he did not play any game against West Indies either.

He managed to retain his spot for the Sri Lanka series series too only because Rohit Sharma was rested. The right-handed batsman could not make it to the playing eleven for the first two games before being finally given a chance to prove himself. He started his knock in the best possible manner by hitting the first ball he faced for a six. But on the very next ball, he was trapped lbw in front of the wicket.

And just a few days after that, he received another setback as the selectors dropped him from the T20I squad for the upcoming tour of New Zealand where India will play five T20Is, three ODIs and as many Tests. The exclusion was always on the cards as Sanju Samson was in the squad only because Rohit was rested.

However, the Kerala star looks disappointed with the snub as he posted a cryptic message on Twitter on Thursday. While he did not write any word, he just posted a comma. Sanju Samson perhaps wanted to say that his journey is still not over and that the latest snub is just a temporary setback.

Samson, nonetheless, remains in picture as he is already there in New Zealand with the India A squad. He is a part of the touring party for the white-ball series against New Zealand A.
