James Anderson, leading wicket-taker for England in Tests, has made a brilliant move to aid fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic. Anderson has been an integral part for England in Tests and led from the front whenever his team need to fightback against an opposition. Now, James Anderson has joined a pack of his fellow players who are doing to their bit to support fight against the pandemic.

Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler had auctioned his England’s World 2019 final winning jersey for over £65,000 to aid fight against the deadly virus. Centrally contracted England cricketers had joined hands to donate £500,000 while the women cricketers representing the nation have taken voluntary pay cuts to join the cause.

James Anderson: My shirts, stump from last Test in Cape Town will be auctioned

James Anderson tweeted that his jersey and stump from his last Test appearance in Cape Town along with his bat will be auctioned on a prominent e-commerce website. Adding that, he will be signing them all. He also added the link of through which everyone can bid for the memorabilia.

Anderson had picked up a five-wicket haul in the Cape Town Test which England won by 189 runs against the hosts. He also bagged two scalps in the second innings but could not contribute much with the bat.

“We’re auctioning this lot off on eBay for @gowellfund. My shirt and stump from the last Test I played in Cape Town and my Tailender bat,” James Anderson tweeted.

Anderson has picked up 584 Test wickets for England since his debut in 2003. He has record the best bowling figures of seven for 42 with a brilliant economy rate of 2.86.

In England, the toll of novel coronavirus pandemic have surpassed 150,000. It has caused deaths to over 20,000 people by Monday and yet to be contained. However, sports in the country, is mulling ways to resume season behind closed doors.
