Riding on his stunning performance against West Indies, India pace spearhead has broken into the top ten of the ICC Test Rankings for the very first time in his career. The right-arm pacer demolished West Indies in the second innings of the Antigua Test to propel India to a massive 318-run win.

Jasprit Bumrah rattled through the top order, attacking the stumps relentlessly in a devastating spell. He had his first breakthrough when he had opener Kraigg Brathwaite caught behind for one in his first over. He eventually finished his spell with stunning figures of 5 for just 7 from 8 overs.

He thus became the first Indian bowler to take five-wicket haul in Australia, England, South Africa and West Indies. In fact, he also became the first-ever bowler from Asia to take five-wicket hauls in these four countries. The spell has also helped him make significant gains in the ICC Test Rankings. He has stormed into the top 10, climbing nine places to No.7 with a career-high 774 points.

West Indies Kemar Roach moved up three places to number eight while Ishant Sharma reached a career-best 671 points, sitting just outside the top 20. Australia’s Pat Cummins continues to be at the top of the rankings with 908 rating points. Cummins’ teammate Josh Hazlewood was rewarded for his nine wickets in the third Ashes Test with a climb of three places to No.12. Other than Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja is the only Indian in top ten.

Among batsman, England star Ben Stokes has made a big jump after his historic knock of 135 not out in the Ashes. As a result, he has risen 13 places to No.13 in the ICC Test Batsmen’s rankings. Stokes had also picked up four wickets in the game and is now at number two in the allrounder’s list. India skipper Virat Kohli is at the top of the rankings.
