Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell has had an outstanding series with the bat against India in ODIs, carrying the job of power-hitting for the hosts. The first two matches saw Glenn Maxwell clobber 45 and 62 in no time to propel the men in yellow to formidable totals and clinch the series. In the third ODI in Canberra, the 32-year old was on the verge of scripting a resounding victory but got undone by a yorker from Jasprit Bumrah for his first wicket.
Australia needed only 39 off the final six overs when Jasprit Bumrah came to bowl his ninth over. Glenn Maxwell had carted T Natarajan for 18 runs in the 44th over, which was the previous one to bring the required rate down significantly. Ashton Agar took a single off the first ball as Bumrah bowled two consecutive wides and followed it up with a perfect yorker. Maxwell advanced down the track as the ball hit the base of the stumps as he had to depart for 59.
Earlier, India found themselves in trouble when they were at 152-5 after choosing to bat first. However, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja stitched a 150-run unbeaten stand to carry the visitors to 302. Aaron Finch top-scored for Australia with 75 before perishing at a very crucial time. The two teams made three changes for the dead rubber as India eye their first victory of the tour.
