Jasprit Bumrah, on Friday, sprung a big surprise during the first day of the three-day tour game against Australia by starring with the bat. In a match, where the the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant and Wriddhiman Saha failed to get going, Jasprit Bumrah made his mark with the bat.

In fact, he was India’s highest scorer as he remained unbeaten on 55 while India were all out for a modest 194. It was also his highest first-class score as he registered his maiden fifty  in professional cricket. It was his knock that gave India’s scoreboard some respectability.

What makes his knock even more remarkable is that it came against the pink ball which assists the pacers. He reached his fifty off just 54 balls that too with the help of a six. He was also hilariously given a guard of honour by his teammates when he made his way into the dressing room after his fifty.

As if the knock was not enough to entertain the fans, Jasprit Bumrah also took to Twitter to react to his fifty in a funny manner. Seeing the funny side of his unexpected batting exploit, Jasprit Bumrah tweeted:

“Try one new thing per day, they said.”

And going by the reactions of the fans on his tweet, one can say that they enjoyed it. Some fans even warned Hardik Pandya, asking him to start bowling soon or risk losing his allrounder’s spot to his Mumbai Indians teammate. Here are some of the reactions to Jasprit Bumrah’s funny tweet:

Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, picked two wickets while Mohammed Siraj picked one. For the home side, only their captain Alex Carey managed to touch the 30-run mark, scoring 32.
