Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the cornerstones of the Mumbai Indians pace-bowling attack, ever since he made his debut back in 2013.

With every passing year, the Indian champion bowler has gone from strength to strength, winning games for his franchise from desperate situations.

Last year, Bumrah played a crucial role in the finals to help Mumbai Indians defend their target against the Chennai Super Kings, paving for their record-breaking fourth Indian Premier League title heist.

Mumbai Indians did not really set the stage on fire in the opening two seasons of the IPL. And, it was only in 2010 where they managed to make their way into the finals. They were, however, soundly beaten by MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings.

But Mumbai Indians went from strength to strength and three years later, they finally broke the barrier and went on to claim their first-ever IPL title. Since then, there has been no looking back for the Mumbai-based franchise.

Mumbai Indians are yet to lose a final since their 2010 defeat to CSK and since their 2013 triumph, they have won the title every alternate year.

One of the many reasons behind the success of Mumbai Indians backroom staff whether it is their coaches or talent scouts.

Mahela Jayawardene, under whom Mumbai Indians have won two IPL titles, recently appeared on Sony Ten Pit Shop where he opened up about his role as a coach.

Jayawardene said that his prime job is to manage every player and ensure that he gets the best out of them.

“All these guys have different characteristics. You need to allow them to express themselves,” Mahela Jayawardene said

“You need to create an environment where these characters come together and perform. It’s more management. You need to be a manager for these players,” he added.

Jayawardene then proceeded to describe the nature of some of the players both on and off the field.

Bums (Jasprit Bumrah) is quiet but when he goes out in the middle there is a different beast. Hardik (Pandya) can be a bit loud off the field and he can be loud on the field. I enjoy that. That dressing room, we got some amazing guys. So talented. It’s been a pleasure managing those guys and being part of the franchise.” he added.
