The camaraderie between Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga has developed over the years, given the two fast bowling gems play for Mumbai Indians. The two bowlers have not only worked wonders for their national team but also the IPL franchise. While Lasith Malinga is on the twilight of his illustrious career, Jasprit Bumrah still has a long way to go.

The two fast bowlers are some of the finest exponents of bowling yorkers. With his slinging arm action, Malinga pitches the yorkers at a searing pace at the base of the stumps and has done it for the past few years. As far as modern cricket is concerned, very few bowl yorkers as consistently and effectively as Bumrah. He also has a similar action to that of Malinga; however, Bumrah delivers the ball from a higher point. The 26-year old’s economy rate stands at 4.56, 6.67, and 7.56 in ODI, T20I, and IPL, respectively.

Bumrah, who often credits Lasith Malinga for assisting him with perfecting his blockhole delivery, declared that the Sri Lankan has the best yorker in the world. The Indian pace spearhead lauds Malinga for using it efficiently for a long time to his advantage. The 36-year old Galle-born gave up Test cricket in 2011 and retired from ODIs in July 2019. The T20I captain indicated earlier that he would retire from T20Is too if Sri Lanka makes it to the knockout stage of T20 World Cup in 2020.

Malinga is the best yorker bowler in the world and he used it for such a long period of time to the best of his advantage.” Bumrah said in a tweet of the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians.

I was not much of a hugger anyway: Jasprit Bumrah

With plenty of speculations and a wide array of aspects under discussion when cricket resumes, Jasprit Bumrah believes an alternative for saliva is required to shine the ball. The Gujarat-born pace bowler was in support of maintaining social distancing by avoiding handshakes and hugs; however, feels that an alternative to saliva must be there to keep the balance between bat and ball.

“I was not much of a hugger anyway! And not a high-five person as well, so that doesn’t trouble me a lot. The only thing that interests me is the saliva bit. I don’t know what guidelines we’ll have to follow when we come back, but I feel there should be an alternative. If the ball is not well maintained, it’s difficult for the bowlers.” he told in a podcast for the ICC.
